Thoughts on paranormal activity?

So I have just finished watching paranormal activity (I'm a little late I know lol). To be honest, I was really bored with the movie for the first hour or so, then I noticed that it got somewhat scary as time progressed, especially the ending. I can't even lie, the ending really freaked me out lol. I just didn't like the fact that the whole movie was set up as video footage. I just don't understand why so many people made a huge thing over it, because to me, it was really overrated. It could have been a lot better. It's definitely not something that'll keep me up at night. I did not see paranormal activity 2 yet. Was it any better? What are some of your thoughts?
