Adobe after effects cs4 HELP :(!?

I got a new HD camera today (an upgrade from my SD camera) and I was supper excited to edit in after effects. I am now noticing with my footage when I edit there is jumps from clips, very slow previewing movies and its just messing up my clips moving very slow. Would adobe cs5 be better to get? would it be faster?
