Should I put my last job (fired) on my CV? Help!!?

I'm 19 and was fired from my first job today, I was there for almost two years and its a nightfill retail job at a well known company here in New Zealand. I was fired for stealing (stupid, i know!! learnt my lesson, i don't need a lecture). Basically, i still want to put it on my CV because its my only job and one of my co workers has agreed to be a referee for me. When I start applying for jobs, will they be able to find out that I was fired? Will they just check my referees are good and leave it at that? Will this haunt me for the rest of my life? In my first meeting my boss said the camera footage will be sent to the police, then no mention of that in my 2nd meeting, could he have been bluffing or what? Will this give me a criminal record? I want to study nursing next year. Such a dumb mistake and a big lesson to learn! thanks.
