Will this haunt me for the rest of my life?

I was fired today (for stealing) from my first job which I had for almost 2 years. On the first meeting I had with my boss he said the camera footage will be sent to the police, but no mention of it in the 2nd meeting. How will this all effect me? Will i get a criminal record? Will future employees find out? Will i be able to get into nursing college next year?
